Digging In at Last
Resource Access Center Groundbreaking this Friday!
This Friday, November 20th at 10:30 AM, years of planning will be realized as we finally put the shovel to the dirt at the site of our future home, the Resource Access Center. Please join Transition Projects, the City of Portland, the Portland Development Commission, and the Housing Authority of Portland as we officially start the next phase of this landmark building. The development will include an innovative center that will connect people with the services they need to end their homelessness, a 90-bed transitional shelter for men, and 130 units of permanent housing.
This event will take place at the corner of NW Broadway and NW Hoyt St. We will also be holding a warm clothing drive at this event. Donations of coats, hats, gloves and scarves are welcome to help us keep the homeless warm and safe this winter. We will also be selling copies of Where I Slept, and "Support the RAC" shirts, proceeds from which will benefit dinners at the Glisan Center shelter.
We hope to see you there!
Ninth Annual Truckload of Coats a huge success
Last Friday saw the 9th annual Truckload of Coats event, put on by Transition Projects, KINK.FM, Safeway, Columbia Sportswear, and Amica Insurance. This event brought in over 3,000 coats and warm winter items to benefit Transition Projects' clients, and several other nonprofits throughout the area. This annual event helps enable us to be able to provide coats, warm clothing, and blankets to the residents of our shelters, and clients still living on the streets.
If you missed the Truckload of Coats, there's still time to get us your donations of coats and blankets this year! We have donation collection locations throughout the city, through the month of December. Check out our website at www.tprojects.org for a full list of drop-off sites.
Thanks so much to our amazing Truckload partners, and all the wonderful donors who made it our last Friday!
