Donor Recognition

We have established two societies to recognize donors--

  • The Leadership Society recognizes annual donors of $500 or more.
  • The Legacy Society recognizes donors who have made planned gifts to the agency

The Leadership Society

The Leadership Society is an honorary group of donors who have taken lead roles in supporting the work of Transition Projects. Membership is renewed annually. Three Portland bridges represent the three membership levels.

Hawthorne Bridge ($500 - $2,499)

On the Eastside of the Hawthorne Bridge is the Clark Center, Portland's most innovative men's shelter, and the Clark Center Annex, 22 units of permanent supportive housing.

The Legacy Society

Many of us are able to give generously of our time and sometimes of our talents and treasure during our lifetime. With a thoughtful, well-planned gift such as a bequest by will, we can discover new ways to make significant gifts to charity.

Please join our Legacy Society by making a bequest to Transition Projects, and then letting us know about it.

To ensure that your gift goes to Transition Projects, you should first consult your attorney. The Leave A Legacy foundation suggests the following wording in your Will or any Trust document:

I devise to (or Upon Dissolution of this Trust) (or make as Beneficiary) Transition Projects, Inc., an Oregon Non-Profit Corporation, the sum of $___ (or the ___% of the Estate) (or all the rest, residue and remainder of my Estate or Trust) to be used for carrying out its mission.

Our legal title is Transition Projects, Inc. and our tax ID # is 93-0591582.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bequests

Must I have an estate in order to leave a gift?

An estate is simply a word used to describe any property, money or personal belongings that you may have at the time of your death. Most people leave an estate when they die, even though they may not have a great deal of wealth. Anyone can arrange to leave a charitable gift from their estate when they pass away.

Who can help me arrange for a gift?

If you have a professional you're working with like a financial planner, lawyer, accountant or insurance agent, please talk with them about leaving a gift. A professional can tell you about the tax benefits of planned gifts. You may also contact our office for help.

How do I leave a gift in memory of a person or for a specified purpose?

A gift is a wonderful way to recognize someone who has made a difference in your life. You may also want to give to a specific cause like a program or to a new building. This kind of memorial gift can be arranged in your will, the same way that you would leave a personal gift from your estate. You just need to make it clear that the gift is given in memory of a particular person or for a specified use.
