Permanent Housing

Barbara Maher BuildingWe provide permanent housing at the Barbara Maher Building, a facility for 32 women in recovery. Located in North Portland, the Barbara Maher offers supervised alcohol and drug-free housing, community events, and access to services. The program is a model facility for formerly homeless clients who continue to have special needs after they leave transitional shelter and transitional housing.

Groundbreaking -- Clark Center Annex
On Tuesday, July 18th, 2006, Transition Projects held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Clark Center Annex, 22 units of permanent supportive housing. More than 80 people showed to kick off the building and our campaign for the Clark Center Annex. If you missed it, we've got a full report here.

Transition Projects Executive Director speaking to the crowd.

A wide variety of friends and supporters showed up to kick off the project.

(Left to right) Former Portland Mayor Bud Clark, Housing Authority of Portland Executive Director Steve Rudman, City Commissioner Erik Sten, and former Multnomah County Sheriff Don Clark prepare to breaking ground. Mayor Clark doesn't just pose for a picture, but takes one back of the crowd. Whoop! Whoop!

The groundbreaking by Bud Clark, Don Clark, Steve Rudman, Hon. Erik Sten, with Doreen Binder cheering them on.

Our dignitaries are strong, but we can all use a little help sometimes. This rather impressive machine provided them with a head start on the groundbreaking before the crowd arrived.

Doreen left the crowd with 2 challenges:

  1. To make a gift--of any size--to the Clark Center Annex campaign.
  2. To find 2 people who don't know about the work of Transition Projects and tell them.

As a virtual groundbreaking participant, we leave you with the same two exciting challenges. To get involved, including the opportunity to visit the construction site for a personal tour, e-mail us at donate@tprojects.org or call Tony at 503.823.4930, ext. 205.
