We believe at any point in anyone’s life that they can become homeless…and they don’t have to stay that way. Our service model is simple—and effective: Help people meet their basic needs as they transition from homelessness to housing. Because everyone is unique, we tailor specific services to the individual. Basic needs are the bedrock of our work : Clothing, food, showers, food boxes, blankets, a safe and warm place to stay—provided with compassion and professionalism. Shelter and transitional housing are tools we use to help people obtain their own housing : We offer 3 progressive housing steps.
The agency works for people such as “Marie,” who wrote us the following letter. She was in the most desperate circumstances when she came to us, and now her life is much better.
Our shelter and transitional housing are accompanied with services that help people overcome their barriers to housing: employment classes, mental health counseling, alcohol and drug counseling, life skills, and case managers who work with each individual to set and meet goals for obtaining housing. Our goal, always, is housing at the first opportunity. Some individuals may need several months of shelter before they achieve housing. We may assist others into housing while they’re still on the waiting list for shelter. We assist more than 9,000 women and men annually.©Copyright 2004, Transition Projects, Inc.
