Meet Our Team

Marie W.L.

Transition Projects, for me, is stability. I’m Marie Wrighten-Lynch, Assistant Director of Shelters, and eight years ago I began my career at Transition Projects. Today, I am one of the people BEHIND the people. I support my colleagues, who serve our more than 700 shelter participants 24-7.

It is a good day when my people are happy, focused, and able to fully support our shelter participants experiencing homelessness. It is a great day when one of our participants gets housed. Celebrations all around! But it is a hard day when my team is facing their own issues with family, addiction, or homelessness.

But that is why I am here. I listen, and I offer support and resources, a warm shoulder, and encouragement. I have personally struggled with addiction, experienced mental health issues, and faced homelessness. In 2016, a sister agency helped me get into a recovery program, and Transition Projects entered my life giving me a safe and reliable way to receive my mail while I was experiencing homelessness.

This organization has kept me stable ever since. A job at Transition Projects is a blessing, for both those we are privileged to serve and for us who do the serving.

Working here means that I get to do what I love — supporting and advocating for others!

My journey at Transitions Projects has been about growth professionally and personally. I have had the opportunity to work in all of our shelter programs and in our Resource Center. I’ve been a Residential Advocate, Shelter Supervisor, COVID Wellness Supervisor, Program Support Manager, and now Assistant Director of Shelters.

I have been fortunate to work with some of the best managers who always supported me and encouraged me to try new things — even when I was uncomfortable and unsure. My experiences and training at Transition Projects have been beneficial in my life outside of work, especially when I am in the community, and someone is looking for resources or just wants to be heard and noticed.
