No, unfortunately returning participants are not eligible to re-enter services during our intake pause. You will need to submit a shelter referral form and get back on our waitlist when intakes resume and our referral form is back online.
-
While our waitlist is currently suspended, all current individuals who have been added to our waitlist prior to April 10, 2026 will remain on our waitlist once intakes resume. It will be your responsibility to reach back out to Shelter Access once intakes resume so we can begin to find you a potential placement. Please note that our programming and eligibility requirements might not remain the same after our pause, so it is possible that we might not have an available option for you once we resume intakes.
-
Once intakes resume, our frequent community partners will be informed via email so the word can begin to spread in our community. You are also encouraged to check our website or visit our Resource Center at 650 NW Irving St for the most up-to-date information. Individuals experiencing homelessness can reach out to Shelter Access on a weekly basis by texting 971-517-8608 or by emailing shelter.access@tprojects.org to check in on the status of our waitlist.
-
Individuals experiencing homelessness are encouraged to access other resources, such as night-by-night overnight-only shelter. A list of these resources is available at https://www.portland.gov/shelter-services/overnight-emergency-shelters
Important Update About Changes to Shelter Services
Multnomah County has proposed the closing of several shelters in their Fiscal Year 2027 budget including four which Transition Projects operates: Clark Center, Laurelwood Center, River District Navigation Center, and Walnut Park.
In order to prioritize individuals currently in the affected shelters, Transition Projects is implementing an indefinite pause on incoming shelter referrals and suspending our waitlist for our congregate 24/7 shelter programs including the above programs as well as Doreen’s Place, Jean’s Place, and Willamette Center. This pause will take affect on Friday, April 10, 2026 and referrals will be resumed in our remaining programs as soon as we have capacity.
We understand this may feel stressful or uncertain and you are not being asked to figure this out on your own. Staff are here to support you through this process.
